Don Julio 1942 was first introduced in 2002 by Don Julio Tequila and is fully manufactured and sold in Jalisco Mexico. Created in celebration of 60 years of premium anjeo mastery since founder Don Julio Gonzalez-Frausto Estrada launched the brand - this premium tequila joined the Diageo family of brands in 2014 and, while still wholly produced in Mexico, is distributed throughout the world by Diageo. Don Julio 1942 Tequila is derived from fully matured, highland-grown blue Weber agave plants hand-picked from an area of the Julio family estate in Atotonilco, Mexico. This agave is harvested and the pina (heart) is slow-cooked for three days before being introduced to the tequila-making process. Don Julio 1942 is aged for 2.5 years and matured in ex-bourbon casks containing no more than 600 liters of tequila at a time - thus ensuring its utterly luxurious finish.
