Crown Royal's XO was launched at the start of 2014. A blend of around 50 whiskies which are married and then aged in ex-Cognac casks, this is arguably the most complex whisky in their range. Crown Royal XO furthers the signature blend from 50 of our finest whiskies, and then finishes them in cognac casks. Whisky finished in former Cognac bottles is becoming a little more common. It usually brings a more tropical profile to the whiskey -- think coconut and banana. Crown Royal is one of the first Canadian whiskies to give it a try, having previously used a Cognac finish on their popular Crown Royal Cask No. 16.
